Parksville 2010

Saturday
Another year, same beach, same beautiful surroundings.

The night before we left (Friday), we celebrated Dad’s 65th birthday. I baked him his Mom’s Raison Cookies, but my Mom stole the show with our family favourite – tenderloin peppercorn roast. I made some snap peas, carrots and waterchestnuts stirfried, and Richard brought some sinfully delightful potatoes that were, well awesome.
Saturday morning we got up early, ate some breakfast and headed out to wait in the ferry line up. Lucky us we made the first ferry out that we had hoped to – and even luckier ran into some friends on the boat. It helped kill the time on the way there while Braydon and Nathon played DS and Chloe and Kaylee headed up to the top of the ferry to check out the winds.

Arriving early on the island, we ate some lunch and drove up the to resort. The ferry docks in Nanimo and the drive up to Parksville is about 30 min. We were glad to have have arranged early check in as it was just before 2pm.
Walking into our place at Madrona, we were instantly happy that we choose to stay beachside this again this year. The beach goes out for miles and miles, and when the tide is in, the kids can walk out forever too.
I headed to get our supplies for the week (or at least a chunk of it) and came back to find he kids outside already playing.

Taking it easy on the first day, we played in the sand, went for a walk or two and hit the water. A few cold ones on the deck for me and Chris and the enjoyment of just being able to relax – we know we hit the good spot.

Appies included freshly smoked salmon, cream cheese and crackers with some wine. Life doesn’t get much better than this.
My baby turns 5 tomorrow, wow!! I know she is excited to have a vacation birthday.
