Laundry

It seems to never end here.  With a 2.5 year old potty training, a husband who works hard in a less than clean environment and a 5 year old practicing sliding into first....well there is lots of laundry.

I don't mind doing laundry, don't even mind folding it.

For some reason, I'm not good at putting it away. But today, my plan is to catch up.  Have the day end with three empty laundry baskets.

I wonder if that is possible??

Spring???

I'm not sure who ticked off the snow god...but he seems angry.

Why else would we get to enjoy 23c sunny weather last week, and this week it SNOWED!!

Um, it's April.

Play Ball!!

Yup, it must be spring (well you can't tell by the weather) as ball season is now upon us.  And this year, Braydon starts up t-ball.  Now that is the cutest game in the world.  Seven 5 year olds that know they should run if they  hit the ball.  The only other thing they know, if a ball comes remotely close to them (2 feet, 15 feet whatever), they should run towards the ball and attempt to catch it.

The other thing that is needed for a good ball game - cheerleaders!

My friend Lisa had this on her blog (who am I kidding, since it's just her and her Mom who really read this, well they knew that).  I thought it would be good to answer.

Me from A to Z...
A--Attached or Single? Very Attached
B--Best friend? Boy - that would be my husband who fills both roles! Girl- Lori on the long term stuff, Jen on the day to day world
C--Cake or Pie? Cake, pie sucks.  Well, except for Lemon Meringue Pie
D--Day of Choice? Today.  Why not make the best of it.
E--Essential Item? Camera.
F--Favorite Color? Red, but ruby red is the best.

H--Hometown? North Vancouver
I--Indulgence(s)? Dark Chocolate, and asparagus.  Not at the same time of course!

L--Life is incomplete without? my family and friends
M--Marriage date? July 14, 2001
N--Number of siblings? 1 "baby" brother

W--Worst habit? Snacking on things that aren't mine (like the cookies I buy "for" the kids)
X--X-ray or ultrasound? Done with needing ultrasounds for baby reasons, so I guess x-ray
Y--Your favorite food? Salmon
Z--Zodiac? Pieces - and everytime I read mine, it's eery.

Dear Fish, I am sorry

Dear Fish;

I am sorry.   I am sorry that over the years many of you have come and gone in my tank of death.

I tried, really I did.  Two guppies have recently joined the rest of you in fishy heaven, but that is it.

I am determined to make this work. I love all animals, and while chances are I will never love fish as much as I love my cat and dog, I still care for you.

It seems as though I may have found a way to stop the unnecessary deaths.  Apparently, even-though I asked many "fish experts" - I was missing a key element.  While you don't REQUIRE an air pump, well fish need it.  I think I was honestly sucking the life out of you by not providing enough air.

This is all still to be proven.  But I did the $10 investment, and already there seems to be a better vibe in the tank.  Could it be this simple?

The lady at the fish store said chances are, I had nothing to do with the guppy deaths.  They could both have been sick when I bought them, especially since they died so quickly when others are surviving.

So, live on my lucky seven.  I do hope that going forward this will be known as the Tank of Life.

And Lisa, I'm not a fish killer.  Really, they die on their own accord.

The first casulty - a Mystery

This is a male blue guppy.  A beautiful fish.  It is the first fish to be taken by the tank of death.

Now, hear me out.  This was not my fault.  Really.

We bought four new fish on Saturday.  Two guppies, two tetras.  We went out Saturday night, and when we got home, the blue guppy was missing.

Missing.

Seriously, where does a fish  go???  Did it get eaten by another fish?  I doubt it, the two Tetras are larger, but not aggressive.  Did it die of natural causes?  I doubt it, there was nothing floating at the top or lying on the bottom of the tank.

Did it loose to the filter?  I don't think so, as usually you can find "pieces" of the fish.

Did it jump?  Nothing anywhere surrounding the tank.  We looked!!!

So...."Prince Charming" is gone.  I don't know how, I don't know where.  But he is gone.  So long little fishy, it was a great eight hours together.

Choo Choo gets a dog

Kaylee's imaginary friend Choo Choo got himself a dog.  His name is Racket.

Dog - Imaginary man's best friend.

I'm glad she gave him a dog, I think every child should have one.

The Tank of Death

I have this fish tank.  Years ago, the deal between my Mom and I was she bought the tank, I bought the fish.  Let's just say - she got the better deal.

Fish die.  They die easily. I learned that lesson over and over again.  When my roommate Lori and I decided to get the tank going again, she came up with the name "The Tank of Death".  It stuck and it's appropriate.

At one point, I couldn't find my aquatic frog.  I hadn't seen it in a day or so, so I figured it had died somewhere.  I went looking all through the tank for it, no luck.  Then I noticed it on the floor.  The frog committed suicide.  The Tank of Death.

So Braydon has seen this tank sitting in our basement.  He kept asking to get the tank open.  Somehow we said yes, and once again, the tank of death has been re-started.

We have three fish.  They cost $0.67 each.  So far, we have kept them alive for four days.  It's not a record, but a good start.  Let's see how many the tank claims this time!!
