Close Call

So last night I'm taking the garbage out and Takaya comes along so she can go the bathroom.

I toss the garbage into the bin and she starts sniffing around in the grass.

The  we see something waddle towards us.  At first I think it's one of the neighbourhood cats - but then I see those stripes.

Those undeniable black and white stripes.

Lucky for us, we saw him early enough that we took off the other way.  Seriously, it's one thing to get sprayed.  During the summer, every night we can smell it.

But Takaya?  Take that very fluffy, double fur coated dog.  If she ever got sprayed there would be nothing we could do except shave her down and wash wash wash.  It would take hours.  It would NOT be good.

Thankfully, it was a close call only.

Me - this week's version

This week is crazy.  We were away for the weekend, so all those things we get done over the two days isn’t done.  The house is a mess, the kids need new shoes and winter jackets.  Work is busy, winter is coming. 

 Monday night I left work early to pick up the boys, ended up buying a new bed.  That’s how I roll.  I made a lasagna, BBQ’d some chicken, but it was Taco’s for dinner (trying to do some things in advance).  Tonight, Tuesday – Braydon has soccer practice, so Chris both kids there because I have an AGM for KJ’s school.  Tomorrow night is laundry and a solid attempt at some cleaning.  Pretty sure I should throw the kids into the bath.  Thursday night Chris has an AGM where he will join the board for Little League baseball.  Sure, we have the spare time.  Friday night will be crazy as usual, Saturday is soccer and Sunday is soccer pictures.  At  8am!  Who came up with that???  I have to remember to get the dog in for grooming (wow she stinks) and the kids to the dentist.

 But as crazy as that is, things are great.  I just got onto a DT team for scrapbooking at CompuPro, people are singing up for my class at Scrap Arts, work is fun right now, I’m getting control of my bad eating habits….and we have a new bed coming!

 I wonder what next week will be about.  This is life.  At least mine.

Excited!!!

I have just been asked to be on the design team for CompuPro Scrapbooking (www.compuproscrapbooking.com ) and I could not be more excited!!

When I followed Tracey over there, I knew instantly that it was a great site.  The community is warm and friendly, and the talent is amazing.  I really feel inspired by so many of the artists, that I HAVE to scrap!  Last night, tired after a fun weekend, I still stayed up to work on a lay out.  

Every second month I receive a DT kit full of great papers and embellishments to play with.  I get to post challenges and keep up the chatter.  I get to continue to learn this craft that I love and hopefully inspire some along the way.  Did I mention how excited I am??

And so the learning begins....

The other day, Kaylee comes home from school and says "Know what Mommy?"  I say "What Kaylee?"  "You need to share with your friends."

Braydon comes home and says "Mommy, I met a new friend today, and his skin wasn't pink."  So I say "Really, what colour was it?"  He thinks for awhile and says "Like dark brown wood."

First Full Day....of the rest of our lives

So - this is it.  The first day of the rest (well at least 17 years) of our lives.  Full day kindergarten.  We got up on time (good start), had breakfast, packed our lunches and walked Kaylee to school.

Then we swung by Bradley's house (he wasn't ready yet) and came home.  With all this time to spare I didn't know what to do - so I  made dinner.  I'm crazy!!  At least it will be ready, just have to boil the noodles when I get home tonight.

I'm about to walk the boys to school.  They are ready - am I?  Sure....I love to see them so excited.

Big Day

So my baby started kindergarten today.  Seriously - I can remember his first smile.  Oohhhh how that melted my heart.  Just like today - he got up early (school didn't start till 12:30, but he was up at 7am for it) got himself dressed and headed down for breakfast.

Chris took the week off to get Braydon in to school for the two adjustment days.  He goes on Friday for two hours, then reality starts Monday.  While all summer we though that Mrs. Roberts would be the teacher - last week we learned that it would be Mr. Eugene.  Braydon's comment to the change?  "Ahhh, now I have to start all over".  But he walked in, and Mr. Eugene asked if he  needed his Dad to stay and he say "Nope" then started playing with toys and showing the "new" teacher how things worked.  I figure he'll be running the school by October.

When I got home today he had another surprise for me.  We've been working the past couple of days trying to learn to ride his bike without the training wheels.  He and Chris have gone out to practice a number of times.  He let me take him too - but really does better with Daddy.

Very proudly he told me that Daddy let him go - and this was the result!!
